Write a story
Everything is optional. The defaults already work.
Leave it blank and the generator picks something itself.
A journey with something real at stake and a route that keeps closing behind you.
Your story appears here as it is written. Set the options on the left and press Generate.
Adventure is the oldest shape there is. Someone wants to get somewhere, the way there costs more than they expected, and they arrive as a slightly different person. The generator builds to that shape rather than producing a travelogue, so the story keeps moving and the cost keeps rising.
Give it a destination and an obstacle and it will do the rest. "A courier has to cross the lake before it thaws" is already enough. If you have a fuller plan, open More options and set the point of view, the setting and the names before you generate.
What this generator is aiming for
Stakes beat scenery
A mountain described for three paragraphs is a postcard. A mountain that has to be crossed by dark, with one rope, is a story. The generator is told to keep the want in front of the description.
Close the door behind them
Good adventure removes options. The bridge goes, the boat leaves, the map turns out to be wrong. Each scene should make retreat harder than continuing.
Change the situation, not the mood
The ending has to leave the character somewhere new. Realising something is not enough on its own, so the prompt asks for an outcome that has actually happened to them.
Adventure questions
How long should an adventure story be?
Medium suits most of them. Short works if the whole story is one crossing or one chase. Long gives room for a journey with several legs and a proper reversal in the middle.
Can I set it in a real place?
Yes. Put the place in the Setting field under More options and the story will use its weather, terrain and distances rather than a generic version of them.
Can I write an adventure for children?
Set Written for to ages 5 to 8 or 9 to 12 and the danger stays real but the language and the content stay appropriate.
